“Return to the Land” with “Les Jardins de la Valette” in Vitoria-Gasteiz

Field demonstrations during the stay in the Spanish Basque Country

The initiative, supported by the Diputación Foral de Álava and the Ayuntamiento de Vitoria-Gasteiz, originates from Slow Food International's commitment to #ReturnToTheLand and the projects framed within #TerraMadre2020.

The three-day course was also made possible thanks to public-private collaboration with bodies such as Aralab and Gran Hotel Lakua.

The lack of generational renewal makes it necessary to seek formulas that encourage more people to take up a profession in danger of extinction. The project has several objectives:

  • to break down the keys that have allowed, in different experiences, to bring greater economic viability to their businesses;
  • to improve work-family balance;
  • to increase quality of life, thereby revaluing the horticulture profession.

It also aims to experiment with some of its tools in the field and share the knowledge generated with as many actors of society as possible thanks to the work of Sylvain Couderc of Les Jardins de la Valette.
